Alex's Birthday: Oxtail Marmalade and Roasted Bone Marrow

This blog tends to lean towards practical...but I just made something really impractical and want to share it anyway.  I'm not even going to write out the recipe, because it was ridiculous, but you can find it here.  http://www.thehungrymouse.com/2010/04/14/oxtail-marmalade/

Here's a picture of the cooking process, when it turned into horrible purple sludge:
Mmmm...
And what it turned into:
The roasted bone marrow was actually very easy, and I'll probably make it again as a treat for Alex sometime, since it's his favorite thing in the world.  The bones were pretty cheap, and I just roasted them in a shallow pan at 450 degrees for about 20 minutes or so.  Serve with toasted bread and something green.
We had bananas foster for dessert, but Kristen, I think you're the expert on that.

Zohmygawd. Just looked at the recipe link.

I hope you will continue to make and post about impractical cuisine. There will always be more practical posts because we have to eat every goddamn day. I do wish we could have a break from that. Maybe the summer off.

This looks amazing. Congrats.
