Drinks We Drink, summer list

None of these really constitute a post, but together they almost add up to something. Here is our go to list for summer drinking:

Gin and Tonic
2 oz Gin (Bombay Sapphire is far and away our favorite)
over two or three ice cubes
3 oz (give or take) Tonic Water (Schweppes!)
Wedge of lime squeezed on top, run around the rim, and dropped on in.

Margarita, cascading ratios
3 ice cubes
2 oz Gold Tequila (we have tried and liked Jose Cuerva and Sauza)
1.5 oz Triple Sec (we use Leroux. Dekyper is supposed to be the best)
1 oz lime juice
.5 - .75 oz simple syrup (my ratio is one cup sugar with four cups boiling water over it, kept in fridge)

Shake if you are awesome. Stir with the handle of a knife if you are me.

Mint Julep
Lots of Ice
Leaves from a generous sprig of mint
1 oz simple syrup
2 oz whiskey
Soda water to taste

Hard Core Mint Julep
2 sugar dots (the little sugar cubes)
Leaves of mint
Crushed Ice
(muddle muddle muddle)
2-3 oz whiskey

Papa Drink

Ice
2 oz whiskey
Ginger Ale (Canada Dry!)
(your breath will smell like family)

Old Fashioned
Sugar Cubes
Bitters (Angastora!) until cubes are soaked
(muddle muddle muddle)
Ice
2 0z whiskey
Soda Water (or Fresca if you are feeling funky)
maraschino cherry

Whiskey on the Rocks
Put ice in glass
Pour whiskey over it
Read label
Adjust expectations

Dark and Stormy
ice
2 oz dark rum (Seal 151!)
Half a bottle ginger beer (Goya makes me sneeze!)
Wedge of lime if you feel fancy

Mojito
1 oz simple syrup
4 little lime wedges
lots of fresh mint
(muddle muddle muddle)
2 oz white rum
Soda Water

And, as a post note, never mix Moxie with anything. Just drink it straight.
